Our Research

This page exists because we think you deserve to know how a small company decides what to sell you — and where our knowledge runs out.

What we read

Our starting point is the mainstream sleep science literature: work on circadian rhythm and light exposure, on melatonin timing, on sleep environment factors like temperature, noise and darkness, and on deep pressure stimulation. Most of it is decades old and boringly consistent.

We are readers of that work, not contributors to it. We have no laboratory, no clinical trials and no researchers on staff. Anyone in our position claiming otherwise is inventing credentials.

How a product gets in

Three filters, in this order.

  • Is there a plausible mechanism? Blocking light works because darkness matters. Weight works because deep pressure has a measurable calming effect. If the only explanation is "energy" or "detox", it doesn't get past this step.
  • Does it survive our own nights? Every item in the collection has been used by us for at least a month, in the room you see in the photographs. A drawer of rejected things sits behind this website.
  • Does it earn its place in the sequence? We would rather sell nine things that work together than forty that compete.
If we can't explain why something works, we don't sell it.

What we will never say

We won't quote a percentage of users who slept better, because we haven't run a study, and a number invented for a website is a lie with a decimal point in it.

We won't call anything clinically proven. We won't imply that a product treats insomnia, apnoea or any other condition. And we won't tell you that our candle does something a cheaper candle doesn't.

Where the evidence stops

Honestly: earlier than most brands admit.

Light and darkness are well supported. Temperature and noise are well supported. Weighted blankets have reasonable evidence for reducing anxiety at bedtime. Aromatherapy is far weaker — what it reliably does is act as a learned cue, which is genuinely useful, but it is not pharmacology.

We sell scent because a consistent cue helps a routine stick, not because lavender sedates you. That distinction matters to us.

And the obvious caveat

Sleep is affected by stress, caffeine, alcohol, medication, hormones, pain, age and mental health. No object on this website addresses any of those.

If your sleep has been poor for weeks, or you wake unrefreshed no matter how long you spend in bed, please speak to a doctor. That is not a disclaimer we're obliged to write. It's the most useful sentence on this page.
